Christmas Wishes Card!

Yes, it's a Christmas post in January and no I'm not late but rather I'm starting EARLY!! Did you know there is a GREAT Christmas Challenge Blog?! Well I'm sure there is more than one but I happen to be a fan of the ABC Christmas Challenge Blog! If you participate every two weeks you're guaranteed to have at least 24 Christmas cards finished by December 25th! My goal is to participate in every challenge so let's get creating with Christmas!

So this week's ABC Challenge was "B for Black and white" plus a Dustin Pike image (since he's sponsoring the challenge!!!). Well you all know how much I love my Dustin Pike images so I pulled this one from the archives and hand colored it with pencils. I matted it on black and printed off the sentiment using the Microsoft Word program. (You might say I made my own digi! lol) I used a black background and layered the two colors for contrast. I used a MS corner punch on the white corners to make them fancy and used black ribbon across the center. I added Glossy Accents to Dudley's yellow parts and Diamond Dust stickles to Santa's "furry" parts! I also rounded the foundation corners for a finishing touch. The challenge over at PaperPlay this week was to get "back to black" by using black for the foundation. Fancy that, I've done that with this card! :) Don't forget I have BLOG CANDY HERE!!!

Christmas Greeting Card Holder!

This week over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge, the challenge was to "Deck the Halls"; meaning make something to decorate your "halls" with. I decided to create a Christmas Photo card holder. I always get great photo cards but there isn't a good way to display them so I made a way! I used skewers (at different lengths) and hot glued mini clothespins to the ends. I also hot glued little red bows to the clothespins so they looked finished. I used a tin bucket and tied a red starry ribbon around it, hot gluing it in place. I cut Santa using my cricut and the Doodlecharms cartridge. His white elements were cut from sparkly white cardstock though it doesn't show up in the picture. I love this Santa cut; from what I've seen, I think he's the cutest of all the Santa cuts. I only put a few skewers in my holder but it's very versatile and can be made with more or less.

Snow Friends Box!

I love to make these little boxes from Cricut's Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. This one is the purse cut and I think it came out just so cute! I cut it at 5.5 inches and used a Dustin Pike image called Snow Friends. I stickled using Frosted Lace, Red and Gold stickles and added the K&Co poinsettas. The tag was cut from the same paper as the image's mat and was cut using the TBBM cartridge at 1.5inches. I added some red ribbon for a "handle", tied on my tag and this project was finished! I love it when it comes together the way you pictured! This little purse/box is ready for a small gift such as earrings or even some candies!

HO,HO,HO Gift Card Holder!

Good evening everyone! I hope all is well in your little part of the world. Here in Northern CT, USA the weather has turned to snow from the drizzle rain that stuck around all day yesterday and today. This week's challenge over at Polka Doodles is to make something that can hold a gift. My first project is a gift card holder. I've seen so many people make them out of toilet paper rolls and wanted to try my hand at that! I cheated though, because I used the end of a wrapping paper roll! I wrapped it with one of my favorite papers and zig zag stitched around three sides leaving an opening along one short side. I cut a tag using my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cricut cartridge at 4inches out of coordinating paper and tied gold ribbon on the end. A few stickles here and there and this project was done! It amazed me how easy it was to do!

Santa and Rudolph Gift Tags!

Here is another set of 3inch by 3inch Gift Tags I made using the Cricut and the Doodlecharm cartridge (Santa) and the Create A Critter cartridge (Rudolph). Both Santa and Rudolph were cut at 2 inches. I zigzag stitched around the edges of the plaid tone on tone green paper and then cut the images. I added a few drops of Gold Stickles to each card to finish them off.

Snowmen Gift Tag Set!

Greetings all! I've been working on Christmas cards and tags lately. This week, over at the Cricut Cardz Challenge, the challenge was to create a set (2 or more) of 3inch by 3 inch gift tags or cards. Each card must have some sort of Cricut cut on them. Here is my first set. This snowman cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge is one of my favorites from this cart! I chose this great red snowflake paper and stitched around the edges. I used gold ribbon and stickled around the snowmen with Diamond Dust. I used pop dots to pop my snowmen up off the tags. Assembled and done!

Christmas Present Tag!

Keeping with the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas theme, I created this cute Christmas present tag! I used another cute image from PeggyLovesVintage and some cute reindeer paper. I arranged it so there are 8 tiny reindeer!! :) I inked all the edges with Vintage Photo distressing ink and added some vintage Christmas ribbon. I also rounded all my corners. I topped my tag off with some gold ribbon and wrote "to" and "from" by hand. I better get cracking on more of these tags if I want to have enough for Christmas!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas...Card!

Good evening everyone!! I recently won some free vintage Christmas digis from Ms. Peggy at PeggyLovesVintage and needed to put them to good use! Over at PolkaDoodles this week the challenge is "Twas the Night before Christmas". This cute image reminded me of the point in the poem when the narrator sees Santa. I used some Christmas scraps I had and inked them up with Vintage Photo distressing ink. I sewed around the red holly paper and layered my papers. I used my Cricut and the Tags, Bags and Boxes cartridge to cut out a 2inch scalloped tag which I inked as well. I was fresh out of thin brown twine so I used thin white twine and inked it to make it look brown! The sentiment is handwritten. I topped off the card with a flower and called it done business! Thanks again to Peggy for the great set of Santa cutouts!!

Quick and Easy Christmas Card!

One more Quick and Easy Christmas Card for you tonight! This image is from Dustin Pike. I colored him in using watercolor pencils and matted him with a metallicy green paper. I doodled around the white edge with red for a finished touch. I used my Sizzix Texture Boutique and the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder on the white cardstock. Added the red ribbon and adhered the image. DONE! Again, SO easy!

Christmas in June!

Yes, that's right! Christmas in June!! :) The challenge this week over at Digital Tuesday's blog is to use a Christmas digi and this week's challenge is sponsored by (drum roll please...) DOODLE DRAGON STUDIOS!!!! You know I love my Dustin Pike images!!! Fingers crossed the random org. picks my project!! :)

So I combined this with the PaperTake challenge this week which was the following sketch:

I chose one of my favorite images from Dustin Pike (this was not a requirement, I just seemed right since he's sponsoring the challenge!) and colored it with pencils. I used Glossy Accents on Dudley the Dragon and on Santa's nose and boots. Once that was dry, I flocked the trim on Santa's suit with a thick, linen white flocking powder.

I used red cardstock to mat the image and then combined it with green cardstock and shiny snowflake DP. I added some mini roses and rounded my corners to finish the card.

BITTEN BY THE BUG - October Contest Entry

CHRISTMAS GIFT CARD HOLDER

Wow! I have just been over to the Bitten by the BUG site and I have to say I am impressed with everyone's take on this month's contest! I'm also VERY nervous because I have never entered and decided this month would be my first! Of course, I couldn't resist checking out the other projects and am up against some beautiful creations!

The contest was to create something using the circle cut from various Cricut cartridges but the catch was you needed to make the circle into some kind of Christmas ornament!

Here is my entry (with description to follow)! I apologize for the pictures, as many are blurry AND I couldn't decide which pictures I liked best...so there are quite a few! It is hard to photograph details! Apparently, I need to ask Santa for a newer camera that will take better "close-up" shots! :) I hope you enjoy my creation!

DETAILS:

I started by cutting two pieces of paper 12" wide and 3.5" high. I adhered the two pieces of paper together (one for the outside, one for the inside) and folded the left side over 4.5 inches and the right side over to create a flap. The paper used was Creative Memories-Shades of Red (for the outside) and "Christmas Cheer" (for the inside). I rounded the corners for a "finished" look. I cut about an inch off the top of a large Creative Memories Memorabilia Pocket and adhered it to the inside center of the holder (to hold the gift card!). I tea-dyed the edges of the holder, inside and out and then used Christmas Glitter Glue to brighten up the outside edges! I adhered the "Don't Open Til Christmas" ribbon to use as a closure. Using the George cartridge, I cut 7 circles at 2" (3 using the "Christmas Cheer" paper and 4 using the striped paper from the CM-Shades of Red. Taking one of each paper circle, I folded the pair in half and then cut the crease to the center of the circle. I did this on the other 2 pairs, leaving the last circle whole. I slid the slits of each pair into each other to create a 3-D effect. I used Cat's Eye Black to ink the edges of each circle and adhered one pair to the circle I had left whole (for stability). Then I used a precision point adhesive to glue each pair of "ornaments" in to each other, in a nesting fashion, completing the 3-D effect. I added a piece of Gold CM paper to create an ornament topper as well as metallic gold ribbon (as the "hanger") and rhinestones on the ornament as a finishing touch. I adhered the ornament to the front of the Gift Card Holder using CM Photo Splits and added gift stickers to the right flap as decoration.

For the inside, I cut Santa and two of his reindeer from the Paper Dolls cartridge. I used CM papers for these three additions and outlined them in black ink so they would stand out against the white background. Santa took the most time, mainly because I put great detail into him (but he's my personal favorite)! I added rhinestones to enhance each of their noses! I adhered a "Christmas Collections-Earthy" Sticker to the bottom of the memorabilia pocket and inserted the gift card for safe keeping! (Yes, it is a real Walmart Christmas Gift Card!)
